Nichole M. Christian

Nichole is a creative chameleon, a writer and story strategist who loves to work at the intersection of the arts and social uplift. She was most recently creative director, editor and lead writer for A Palette for The People (Sept, 2021), Wonder  and Flow (2020), and A Life Speaks (2019), each a publication from The Kresge Foundation’s eminent artists series. Her work in the series has been twice honored by The Society of Professional Journalists.

Nichole began her career on staff for some of the nation's top news outlets including: The Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, The New York Times, and the Detroit Free Press. She is the co-author of Canvas Detroit. Her writing appears in the books: A Detroit Anthology; Portraits 9/11/01: The Collected "Portraits of Grief" from the New York Times; Dear Dad: Reflections on Fatherhood, and the online arts journal, Essay'd. Clients have included: the Detroit Institute of Arts, BBC's World Book Cafe, Detroit Free Press Film Festival, The Richmond Free Press, Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation, Fifth Avenue Press, Early Works Detroit, coG-Studio, Chalkbeat, Washtenaw Community College to name a few. 

Nichole holds a BA in journalism from Wayne State University's Journalism Institute for Media Diversity. She is also a mother and a passionate student of poetry, yoga, photography, and the fine art of stovetop popcorn making.
