Tax Tips for Artists

with Akeem Davis

Tax season ushers in waves of fear and anxiety among artists and independent business folks alike. Akeem's focus as a tax preparer is to provide excellent, committed service for folks who’ve been intrepid and have a diverse mix of 1099s, W-2s, bank statements and unreported income. Akeem's work is informed by his own experience as an actor and freelance entrepreneur. This exciting seminar will cover his philosophy of Embracing Profitability as an Artist-Entrepreneur, and will go over:

  1. Budgeting as the foundation to personal finance
  2. Exploration of how to think about setting up a Gross/Net system to live by
  3. How to use Tax Buckets (not brackets!) to accurately project self-employed taxes
  4. Embracing Profitability: How to use business expenses and estimated payments in concert to never owe taxes again

Artists and creatives of all backgrounds will learn best practices and important take-aways about the current tax code in a friendly and confidential setting. (Please note: this workshop is for educational purposes only. Each person's tax needs are specific to their own returns, and one should always seek the advice of their own professional tax preparer.)

A recording of this session will be shared with registrants for a limited time.
