 e democratically governed. Led by Austin Robey, the co-founder of Ampled
 , this workshop will be a pragmatic, practitioner-focused guide for how 
 artists and creative entrepreneurs can start and build a cooperative bus
 iness. Whether you are looking to start a business now, exploring optio
 ns for an existing practice, or just curious, this workshop will explore
  the use of alternative shared ownership models to build equitable commu
 nity-owned businesses.\n\nIn this 2-hour workshop, we’ll cover key con
 cepts that distinguish the cooperative model as well as some practical t
 ips for getting one off the ground. You will learn about:\n\n* Incorpora
 ting cooperatives\n\n* Designing ownership models\n\n* Financing and res
 ourcing cooperatives\n\n* Frameworks for decision making\n\n* Examples c
 reative cooperatives in action\n\nA recording will be made available to 
 those who register, but live participation is encouraged! \n\nAustin Ro
 bey is a co-founder of Ampled, a cooperatively owned web platform that 
 allows musicians to be directly supported by their community. He is inte
 rested in the development of alternative economies and building more dem
 ocratic, equitable, and inclusive online platforms. Austin is a member o
 f NEW INC, the New Museum incubator, as part of the Equitable Platforms 
 track and has a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and is bas
