DESCRIPTION:There comes a point in every artist’s career where there is
  a paradigm shift in focus. You’ve put in the work to hone your craft,
  develop your voice, and get your ideas out into the world. As your succ
 ess increases, your art grows into a brand and your practice into a busi
 ness. Then, suddenly, you have to focus on the protection of your work a
 s much as its promotion.\n\nWith the increasing dependence on social med
 ia to market your work, new considerations must be addressed. Whatever m
 edium you use, intellectual property can be a powerful tool in protectin
 g your brand. This workshop will go over some basic strategies to implem
 ent so you can protect your work in the new digital world. \n\nA record
 ing of this session will be shared with registrants for a limited time.\
 n\n \n\n \n\nAnibal Luque grew up in Paterson, NJ and graduated from N
 ew York Law School. After some experience in the music industry, Aniba
 l launched his own practice, Luque PLLC, to provide high-quality legal a
 dvice and practical counsel to creatives and entrepreneurs across the gl
 obe. Heavily involved in the technology, art, and media sectors, Anibal'
 s client roster represents the new face of social enterprise. As a young
  enthusiastic entrepreneur himself, Anibal strives to help like-minded p
 eople become successful by sharing his own experiences along with the ri
 ght legal planning.\n\nAs part of his work, Anibal provides strategic 
 business and legal counseling to creatives and entrepreneurs. His experi
 ence is primarily in advising on entity formation, protecting and enforc
 ing copyrights and trademarks, drafting and negotiating a wide range of 
 contracts including recording, publishing, licensing, independent contra
 ctor, sponsorship, tour, festival, merchandising, product endorsement, p
 roduction, and distribution agreements, with a focus on international is
 sues.\n\nHe is also Co-Founder & Vice-President of the board of POWRPLN
 T, a non-profit digital arts collaboratory based in Brooklyn. He is admi
 tted to practice in New York, New Jersey, California, the United States 
 District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the Supreme Cou
