 \n \n\nThe U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives is thrilled to launch
  Guilded, a co-op for freelancers in the creative fields. Guilded is a f
 reelancer-owned digital platform that provides contract workers with thr
 ee key services: \n\n* \n\nFinancial Support through Guaranteed Payment
 s\n\n* \n\nHealthcare Benefits \n\n* \n\nA community for networking and
  organizing\n\nThis free webinar is designed for new and mid-career art
 ists and creatives, based in California, who are looking for ways to bui
 ld assets while accessing social benefits through their work as freelan
 cers. We will provide tools for which artists can self-advocate to large
 r institutions for funding through their community groups/collectives an
 d discuss a new cooperative freelancing platform, Guilded, which provide
 s income stability through guaranteed payments and worker benefits for i
 ts members.  \n\nIn 2020 alone, largely as a result of the pandemic, m
 ore than 2 million people started freelancing. Freelancers bear the brun
 t of negotiating and securing worker and health benefits while conductin
 g all aspects of business administration on their own which makes them s
 ome of the most exploited and least protected workers in our economy. T
 his exploitation and lack of protection is often magnified for freelance
 rs in the arts. Guilded can serve as an antidote for artists looking for
  benefits and to join the solidarity economy.\n\nTo learn more visit ww

 -------\n\n-- ABOUT THE PRESENTER: --\n\nAjoke Williams is the Program M
 anager of Guilded at the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives. Guilded i
 s a freelancer cooperative designed to support independent contractors a
 nd freelancers with payment advances for their contracts, assistance wit
 h tax filing, and a centralized platform for obtaining health care. Ori
 ginally from New Orleans, Ajoke has lived in several cities throughout 
 the US and now resides in Silver Spring, MD.  Before her time at the U
 SFWC, she had been working on means to bring equitable financing and acc
 ess to capital to cooperative businesses throughout the DC, MD and VA. 
  She has worked in establishing a digital online platform for lending p
 ools between members of the Movement for Black Lives DC coalition and p
 rovided logistical and development support for a number of BLM campaign
 s in her time there. Ajoke is passionate about bridging the promise of 
 cooperative business with the urgent social needs of black and brown peo
 ple. As an aspiring credit union founder, she currently serves on the bo
 ard of Appeal's Credit Union and is a founder of Social Conscience PBC, 
 a lending & tech consulting firm.\n\n-----------------------------------
