SUMMARY:CCI - Designing Your Artist Website
DESCRIPTION:-- --\n\n-- Designing Your Artist Website with Squarespace --
\n\nled by Ana María Agüero Jahannes, Vibe Is Bright\n\nLearn how to d
esign your own artist website in this 2-part workshop that gets you the
opportunities you want, whether that’s to secure grant funding, get yo
ur best work in front of the right people, or increase requests for proj
ects. As artists we often turn designing our website into another creati
ve project, but the process can actually be straightforward and you can
check “make website” off your to-do list. And that doesn’t mean yo
ur site has to lack your personality or brand identity. This workshop is
for any artist who wants to design or redesign their own website, is ne
w to Squarespace or needs help getting focused and organized. \n\nYou’
ll learn:\n\n* What makes an artist website effective, what’s essentia
l to include on your site and what you can save for later.\n\n* How to d
esign a wireframe -- a lo-fi blueprint that presents the structure and l
ayout of pages, what content is displayed, and how the elements connect
throughout the site.\n\n* How to use Squarespace to bring your wireframe
to life. We’ll walk through setting up Squarespace, creating pages, p
age sections and element blocks to add content, applying colors and font
s and connecting your domain name.\n\nThe 2-part workshop will be held v
ia Zoom and participation is strongly encouraged. Participants are expec
ted to attend both sessions and complete a homework assignment in betwee
 n. For homework, you’ll need: postcards/post-it notes/cut paper, a few
sheets of paper and pencil for your wireframe.\n\nLimited to 20 partici
pants. A recording will be made available to those who register, but liv
e participation is essential!\n\n \n\nAna María Agüero Jahannes is th
e Creative Director of Vibe Is Bright (@vibeisbright). Ana aims to rewr
ite the narrative of design from traditional and contemporary African di
asporic and indigenous perspectives. She has crystallized an approach to
support clients in engaging with uncharted territory; her favorite mome
nt in a project is when her clients realize the potential of their own w
ork and impact it will have. Ana also shines in the nitty gritty of desi
gn from sanding and painting to 3D modeling and pixel pushing. She also
empowers creative entrepreneurs to design their own brands. Outside of w
ork, you can find her preaching on the beauty of the color brown, schemi
ng on how to make [insert something you could buy], training handstands
and throwing down in the kitchen.\n\n \n\n \n\nDates: Tuesday April 1
 3 & Wednesday, April 14, 2021\n\nTime: 5:00-7:00pm PDT / 8:00-10:00pm
