Jevohn Tyler Newsome is a poet/illustrator originally from Inglewood, Los Angeles who now resides in Oakland, CA pursuing a career in the Bay Area's arts and culture sector. As both a working creative and arts administrator, Jevohn constantly seeks ways to bridge the two components of the arts world. In addition to his position as an Administrative Assistant at the Center for Cultural Innovation, he is also the Storyteller-in-Residence and Network Coordinator for Emerging Arts Professionals (EAP). It was at EAP that Jevohn jumped into exploring ways of telling stories off the page by directing and filming a short interview series with EAP's alumni and affiliates who have dedicated many years to the arts and culture sector. Jevohn has been a featured reader at Nomadic Press, hosted his own reading series at Wolfman Books called "Supermarket Soapbox," and is currently developing an independent print and publication press called the Supermarket Poet Press. Jevohn recently graduated from California College of the Arts with a B.A. in Writing/Literature.
