The job of an executive director is challenging even for the most experienced executives, but for someone new to the position, it can be especially overwhelming.  New EDs face new pressures and are required to become proficient in not just one area of nonprofit management, but must learn skills in virtually all areas from fundraising and finance to board governance and human resources –and everything in between.  ED 101 offers an executive-level curriculum of management practices to give new executive directors the skills to deal with key challenges that face nonprofits. This 3-day program provides instruction and skills-building exercises led by leading experts. Seminar topics will include:

  • Leadership and Management - Balancing and understanding the leadership and management needs of a nonprofit
  • Performance Management - Performance management infrastructure; roles in performance management; supervision framework
  • Sustainability: Linking Strategy and Finance - Understanding strategy formation processes and their role in organizational sustainability planning; overview of key financial management concepts and the principles of financial leadership
  • Boards & Governance - The role and responsibilities of the board; managing the relationship with the board
  • Fundraising - Fundraising strategies, tools and planning; building a culture of philanthropy

Please note - ED 101 is for Executive Directors/CEO's that are currently in that position (1 day - 3 years).
