Executive Director 101: Management Training for New Nonprofit Executive Directors

ED 101 offers an executive-level curriculum of management practices to give new executive directors the skills to deal with key challenges that face nonprofits. This 3-day program provides instruction and skills-building exercises led by leading experts. Seminar topics will include:

  • Leadership and Management - Balancing and understanding the leadership and management needs of a nonprofit
  • Human Resources - Employee recruitment, hiring and performance; evaluation systems; employment law issues and setting compensation and benefits
  • Sustainability: Linking Strategy and Finance - Understanding strategy formation processes and their role in organizational sustainability planning; overview of key financial management concepts and the principles of financial leadership
  • Boards & Governance - The role and responsibilities of the board; recruiting and orienting new members and managing the relationship with the board
