Entrepreneurial Training for Artists In the fall of 2002, with initial funding from the Small Business Administration, CCI launched its first Business of Art ™ workshop series – an intensive training program providing business knowledge and tools designed to meet the needs of artists and creative entrepreneurs. Since that time, we have trained over 600 artists through this program. Participants learn key business skills that provide them with the knowledge and resources to help advance their art, develop their ideas and increase their financial independence. Our trainers and counselors are highly regarded business leaders from both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. The curriculum for the 8-week Business of Art ™ series is designed to provide artists with knowledge, tools and resources on how to manage their life more efficiently. Students learn key concepts involved in strategic planning, public relations and publicity, money management, legal issues and project financing. Topics include: Work Like an Artist, Think Like an Entrepreneur, Strategic Planning, Marketing and Promotion, Money Management, Legal Issues and Financing Your Project. The Business of Art ™ Boot Camp focuses on key course fundamentals and can be produced over two and a half days. In addition to the classroom training, all Business of Art ™ students participate in counseling sessions with leading arts and business professionals and receive a complimentary copy of our textbook: The Business of Art: An Artist’s Guide to Profitable Self-Employment. The Business of Art™ 8-week series and the Business of Art ™ Boot Camp is offered several times a year. Enrollment is limited to 25 students.
